About Us
Our Family's First Generation
The mixing of Eastern craft & Western style.
Our family's great great grand parents had started practicing and making a living with the craft of tailoring since the mid of 19th century. After French established Protectorate Government in Vietnam in 1884, local tailors quickly realized that western clothing style gradually became more & more popular in Vietnamese society, therefore they started developing suit-making craft to fill the growing demand. Traditionally, tailoring expertise in Vietnam was passed downed mostly through apprenticeships and informal guidance within families or local shops. However, during the early beginning days of global western-influence, Vietnamese tailors also honed their tailoring craft by exchanging knowledge with international traders, scholars, tailors and businessmen through diverse trading activities & cultural interactions. Our great great grand fathers were not an exception, yet they also developed their own techniques and skills through years of observation, experience and continuous experimentation. As a result, they had became prominent tailors in their area and laid a strong foundation for our family's next generation of tailoring trade.
Our Second Generation
Rebuild Economy After Wars
During the Indochina Wars in Vietnam, our grandfathers - Mr. Truong Pham and Mr. Ngoc Tran - had to pause their professions to serve the government and fulfill military duties like most other young people. The wars were long and intense, yet miraculously, they all survived despite the huge casualties on both sides. After the wars officially ended in 1975, Vietnam was still very poor and had exhausted all its resources. Our grandfathers returned to their crafts to support the local economy of their hometowns. In addition to making clothes, they also taught unemployed people in their area to help them make a living as sewers.
Our Third Generation
Opening The First Store
Mr. Ngoc Pham, the third generation of our family, initially began his career in a government apparel production company in the 1980s. With his strong character, good work-ethic, and a foundation from a family of tailors, this bright young man was quickly assigned a leadership role in the manufacturing technology division. In the 1990s, realizing a strong opportunity in the market due to the new open economic policies from the government, Mr. Ngoc Pham decided to open his own suit shop with his wife, Mrs. Lan Tran. The shop was named Veston Ngọc Lan, simply after the owners' names. With innovative technology and relentless experimentation, Veston Ngọc Lan gained enormous success from 2000 to 2015, offering stylish ready-to-wear suits and great bespoke products that many Vietnamese people still love.
Our Fourth Generation
Opening The Second Store: Carlo Pham
In 2016, Mr. Ngoc Pham made the decision to launch a second store called Carlo Pham. His goal was to develop a brand that could connect well with global customers who have a broader range of fashion tastes.
